Dear Neighbors,

It is not too late to submit comments about the Commercial Cannabis Ordinance proposal!

A few of the County’s more troubling proposals are:

  • New: Five-acre minimum lot size to cultivate (previously 10 acres)
  • New: Remove 300ft setback from neighboring residence.  Only 100ft setback from property line now.
  • New: Authorizes retail sales at the cultivation site (previously prohibited)
  • New: Allows 102 cannabis events per site including on-site consumption (previously prohibited)
  • Removes: The current water rules specifically established to manage this thirsty product. After many years of drought this is irresponsible.

These proposals will bring risky commercial activities closer to your home.

Send your comments to cannabis@sonoma-county.org by Friday May 3rd.

Comments don’t need to be long, just a short statement that you disagree with the direction the County is heading, and that their proposal does nothing to achieve the stated goal of improving neighborhood compatibility, rather its worse than the current ordinance.  And, also be sure to send your comments to your supervisor. Supporting the Public Good

The County listens to the cannabis industry more than to ordinary citizens. It is important that a legal team, including technical experts, represent our interests throughout the entire revision process by focusing on compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act. Protecting our neighborhoods from poorly planned cannabis operations comes at a huge cost to all of us.

Please donate today to support this effort. The Neighborhood Coalition is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which means your donations may be tax-deductible.
